Sara Bareilles is returning to Waitress, first co-starring opposite Jason Mraz for two weeks, and then continuing on until 25 February 2018.
Waitress has been performing to generally high box office throughout its run. However, the box office soared to new heights when the musical’s composer Sara Bareilles stepped in to the lead role from 31 March 2017 to 11 June 2017. Sara will reprise her role, stepping back into the shows of Jenna from 16. January 2018 to 25 February 2018.
Waitress has recently been benefitting from the addition of Jason Mraz, himself a Grammy Award winning musical talent, in the role of Dr. Pomatter. Mraz stepped into the role on 3 November 2017, performing opposite Betsy Wolfe as Jenna, who had been in that part since 13 June 2017, right after Sara’s departure. Initially, Jason was scheduled to complete his stint on 14 January 2018, but with Sara’s decision to start performances again directly thereafter, Jason has announced he will be extending for another two weeks, and his final performance will now be on 28 January 2018.
