Katharine McPhee and Sara Bareilles have recorded a special ‘passing of the pies’ video clip to celebrate Katharine taking over the role of Jenna on Broadway.

Sara:
Has your brain exploded yet?

Katharine:
Uh, my brain exploded and you did warn me that it would explode. I’m used to being on set and like, “cut” and they’re like, “Ok it’ll be like, 15 to 20 minutes.”

Sara:
What is the thing that makes you the most nervous about it?

Katharine:
When a song ends, not knowing where I’m going next. That makes me really nervous.

Sara:
I promise you’re gonna know where you have to go. Because someone will literally come and push you there.

Katharine:
Like, Becky will be like, “Walk stage right!”

Sara:
She’ll be like.. “JENNA, GET OUTTA MY KITCHEN!”

Wait I wanna talk about your TV audience.

Are you feeling like they’re excited for you to take on this new challenge?

Katharine:
I think they are! I think that when you’re on a TV show, there’s not much interaction with fans because you just shoot all the time.

Sara:
Shuright.

Katharine:
And then they see it and like… did you just say, “shuright?”

Sara:
I did, “schright”.

Katharine:
I’ve never heard that before.

When you’re like, what’s gonna be the biggest challenge for you?

So, in rehearsal today, I’m with a Natasha and I’m like, I just have to tell you something right now.

This is gonna be my biggest challenge… Is I get the giggles. I get really hysterical. So like the audience starts to laugh and I wanna laugh. So how am I gonna do that? What do you do?

Sara:
Um, sometimes you’re just gonna laugh.

Katharine:
Sometimes you’re just gonna laugh.

Sara:
No, it’s best to kind of curb that if you can, but ya know, unexpected things happen, but the audience loves that.

Katharine:
Yeah when you break.

Sara:
Well we’re so excited that you’re here.

Katharine:
Thank you.

Sara:
We’re just bubbling over with excitement. The audience is going to absolutely love you and the company already loves you.

So, we’re so glad you’re here. Welcome to the diner!

Katharine:
Thank you!
