Following the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, advising the public to avoid theatres in a speech last night, all West End theatres that are part of SOLT (Society of London Theatres) took the decision to voluntarily close, including the Adelphi Theatre, where Waitress is playing. LW Theatres have confirmed they are closed until 22 March 2020, and will review the situation ongoing, with patrons offered exchanges or refunds.

Three cast members returned to the US – Sara Bareilles, Gavin Creel and NaTasha Yvette Williams – due to travel restrictions. Both Sara and Gavin were due to finish their run on 21 March, whilst NaTasha was due to play two more weeks on the West End as Becky, but had her stint cut to just one week.

The official note from the producers says: “We regret to announce that following the official government directive of Monday 16th March all SOLT and UK theatre venues have closed. They will remain so until further notice and will re-open when possible, following government recommendations.

“The box office/retailer from whom you purchased your tickets will be in contact with regards to refunds and exchanges. Please bear with us in these unprecedented times.

“With our best wishes for your health and safety.”
