Waitress: La Comédie Musicale – or Waitress: The Musical Comedy – will have a French-language premiere in Canada in 2024.

The show will be a full replica production of the original Broadway production, marking the first replica production to be announced since the UK and Ireland tour closed in August 2022.

The press release says: “After having enjoyed resounding success in several countries (United States, UK and Ireland, Argentina, Japan, Denmark, Poland and the Philippines) and received many distinctions – including four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical – this authentic show, imbued with humour and sensitivity, knows how to skilfully make audiences move from laughter to tears. Sugar, flour and butter, with a cup of female solidarity, a spoon of friendship, a lot of humour and a good pinch of love and voila! It is with just these simple ingredients that the musical Waitress has found the recipe for success since 2015.”

The show will open on 22 June 2024 at the St-Denis Theatre in Montreal, before moving to the Albert-Rousseau Room in Quebec.
