Jordin Sparks
Jordin Sparks played the role of Jenna Hunterson in Waitress the Musical on Broadway in September and October 2019.
Jordin is the third “American Idol” alumni to have a starring role in the Broadway production, following Katharine McPhee playing Jenna in 2018, and Todrick Hall playing Ogie just before Jordin started her run.
Jordin has released 3 studio albums since she won the sixth season of “American Idol” in 2007. Her self-titled debut studio album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has sold over two million copies worldwide. The album spawned the top ten singles ‘Tattoo’ and ‘No Air’ featuring Chris Brown, which is currently the third highest-selling single by any American Idol contestant, selling over three million digital copies in the United States. Her second studio album, Battlefield, debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 chart and #11 in the UK, with the title single reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only “American Idol” contestant to have her first five singles reach the top 20 in the US.
In 2010, Jordin played the role of Nina Rosario in In the Heights, before being cast alongside Whitney Houston in “Sparkle,” a remake of the 1976 film inspired by the story of The Supremes. In 2012, she was cast in the indie drama, “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete,” executively produced by Alicia Keys.
