In March 2024 it was announce that another replica production of Waitress the Musical would open in Mexico, translated into Spanish. The show was officially confirmed in January 2025, and opened on 13 February 2025 at San Rafael Theatre in Mexico City. As the first official replica, this production features a new translation by Paula Zelaya Cervantes (book) and Alan Estrada (lyrics), differing to the 2019 Buenos Aires non-replica production.

An invitation-only dress rehearsal took place on 8 February 2025,

Sara Bareilles attended the show’s premiere evening on 13 February, having spent the day working with the cast. At the end of the show, she split the audience into three for a chorus of ‘Sugar, Butter, Flour’ in Spanish.

Alan Estrada said: “Translating the lyrics of the songs was very difficult, because Spanish has many more syllables than English. I tried to understand and respect what Sara Barielles created – I don’t know if I will translate further work, but I am very happy with the work we did.”
