Eddie Jemison
Eddie Jemison originated the role of Ogie Herbert Eincorn in the movie of Waitress in 2007, on which the musical was based. In February 2019, he undertook a limited engagement, reprising the role in Waitress the Musical on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. He appeared alongside Lenne Klingaman as Ogie’s love interest, Dawn Louise Pinkett.
Although appearing in Waitress was his Broadway debut, Eddie has been well-known on the Chicago theatre scene, having performed with Looking Glass Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and National Jewish Theatre. His film credits include Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen and The Punisher.
On appearing in the musical, Eddie said: “The acting part came back immediately. The dialogue is similar, and the character is so true to the film, and the feel of the show is the same. What Adrienne Shelly did, how she imagined it. It’s such a small, weird world. You don’t know exactly where it’s set, so it has this kind of enchanted, magical quality. It’s almost like a fable. I think of Adrienne probably every day. She made a really big mark on me. She pulled things out of me that I didn’t think I was able to do. I had to cry a lot. It’s hard to do that on cue, and she demanded it. But she had a way of demanding something that made you believe that you can do it, so I did. I just kind of loved her.”
