Music of Waitress

The music of Waitress the Musical was composed and written by Sara Bareilles.

Sara has released an album, containing many of the songs featured in the show, recorded before it opened for preview performances at the American Repertory Theatre, entitled “What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress.” The definitive version of songs from the finalised musical were then released in July 2016 on the Original Broadway Cast Recording.

In 2019, Sara released an EP of previously unheard demo versions of songs from the show, which also included songs that were not used in the final musical, entitled “What’s Not Inside: The Lost Songs from Waitress.”

Sara has also talked about other songs that were cut from the musical, and the original opening song, ‘Down at the Diner‘, has been performed in different versions multiple times on Broadway.
