After finding out she is pregnant, Jenna invents ‘I Don’t Want Earl’s Baby Pie’ renamed ‘Betrayed By My Eggs Pie’ After finding out she is pregnant, Jenna invents ‘I Don’t Want To Have A Baby With Earl Pie’, quickly renamed ‘Bad Baby Pie’ when Dawn says she doesn’t think they can write that on the menu board. Bad Baby Pie is a ‘ham and cheese quiche’, which Becky says is ‘stuffed with a real pig’.
Earl visits the diner, and Jenna serves him pie. He tells her that whilst her pies are good, she’s no Sara Lee, and that he complimented her pies to get laid; she invents ‘My Husband’s a Jerk Chicken Pot Pie’. Jenna goes home to find Earl playing the guitar and prepares him pie. He is angry about his boss and calls him a ‘walrus dicktard’. He tells her that whilst her pies are good, she’s no Sara Lee, and that he complimented her pies to get laid; she invents ‘My Husband’s a Walrus Dicktard Pie’, mashing overripe bananas with unsweetened butter, baked in an impenetrable crust.
Jenna performs ‘What Baking Can Do’ in the pantry. Whilst preparing desert for Earl, she overhears him watching the TV show, “Let’s Make A Deal,” where the contestants are offered the choice to see what’s behind a numbered door to get a prize. Jenna is inspired by the line ‘door #2 or door #3’ and begins performing ‘Door Number Three’.
In the waiting room, Jenna is greeted by three other mothers-to-be, who perform ‘Club Knocked Up’. The mothers appear later as they go into labour with Jenna. Nurse Norma greets couples in the waiting room, including Mr. and Mr. Flanagan-McDonald and their surrogate, Bridget, who is having an ultrasound, and another couple who are talking about baby names. They perform ‘I Can’t Wait’ as a medley.
Jenna discovers Becky and Cal in the throes of passion, and Becky confronts Jenna on her doctor’s appointments. Becky performs ‘I Didn’t Plan It’. Jenna goes back to the doctor and continues her affair. The next time she visits the doctor, Nurse Norma tells Jenna that Dr. Pomatter has flown back east with his wife. She hears her baby’s heartbeat for the first time and talks to her unborn baby for the first time. Dr. Pomatter comes to Jenna’s pantry and she teaches him how to make Lonely Chicago Pie, whilst they sing ‘You Matter To Me’. At the diner, Ogie and Dawn get married and perform ‘I Love You Like A Table’. Dawn asks Jenna if her relationship with Ogie is moving too fast, saying she is talking about having children with Ogie. Jenna confesses she is considering adoption. Ogie enters the diner, saying he has something very important to say, and sings ‘I Love You Like A Table’ to Dawn, proposing marriage to her. She says yes, and Ogie leaves as he is double-parked. Jenna tells Becky she has to go to the doctor, and Becky says she has a lot of them lately. The other couples are in the waiting room and reprise ‘I Can’t Wait’. Nurse Norma tells Jenna that Dr. Pomatter has flown back east with his wife. Jenna invents ‘Pregnant, Miserable, Self-Pitying Loser Humble Pie.. Upon her return to work, Dr. Pomatter is there, having had half of his order taken by Becky. Jenna sends him away, but then discovers Becky and Cal in the throes of passion. She then performs ‘I Didn’t Plan It. Sitting at the bus stop, Jenna talks to her unborn baby. Dawn and Ogie get married, and sing a short reprise of ‘Never Ever Getting Rid Of Me’.
After Jenna sings ‘She Used To Be Mine’, Dr. Pomatter brings her a gift to her house, and they sing ‘You Matter To Me’. She goes into labour whilst at her house.
Jenna reads Joe’s card and he appears from heaven, tipping his hat to Jenna. Jenna reads Joe’s card in her hospital bed, after Becky and Dawn tell her he is in a coma.
Lulu, now 5 years old, is in Lulu’s, with Jenna, Becky, Cal, Ogie and a pregnant Dawn. The entire cast perform ‘Opening Up (Finale)‘. Jenna watches her daughter, Lulu, now 5 years old, baking in the kitchen. She sings ‘Lulu’s Pie Song’ to Jenna in their kitchen. Jenna and Lulu hug, with Lulu’s Pies illuminated above them.
