Östergötland, Sweden

Sweden saw the third Scandinavian non-replica production of Waitress the Musical, with the show playing in Norrköping and Linköping in 2023. Produced by the East Gothland Theatre (Östgötateatern), Sweden’s largest regional theatre, the show is due to open on 15 September 2023 in Norrköping.

The theatre in Linköping was opened in 1903, while the larger of the two, in Norrköping opened in 1908. On its front is the motto: “Proclaim the sorrow of the ages – Proclaim the joy of the ages”.

The show was translated into Swedish by Carsten Palmær (translation of the lyrics by Carsten and Marie Nilsson Lindh), and directed by Roger Lybeck, with musical direction by Kristin Stenerhag.

The production does not use any actors for Lulu.
