2019-2022 Tour
The second North American tour of Waitress the Musical started on 7 November 2019. This tour started as a non-Actors’ Equity Association production, and is a replica production of the Broadway show, which was directed by Diane Paulus, recreated by Susanna Wolk, who also directed the First National Tour.
The choreography by Lorin Latarro has also been recreated by Abbey O’Brien, with scenic design replication of the original by Scott Pask, but with most automation removed, including the electric proscenium that surrounds the stage with rotating, illuminated pies, which is replaced by a printed curtain.
Tour music supervision is by Ryan Cantwell.
Local bakeries provided pies to the theatres for sale at the performances, such as District Cafe and Bakery in Edmonton, who provided mini apple pies and mini raspberry-rhubarb pies.
Due to the global pandemic of Coronavirus (COVD-19), the tour played its final stop on 14 March, with dates cancelled or rescheduled to September 2021.
