David Hunter
David Hunter originated the role of Dr. Jim Pomatter in Waitress the Musical on the West End.
In 2012, David took part in the ITV competition “Superstar,” to win the role of Jesus Christ in a new arena production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He was chosen as one of the eleven finalists on the show and made it to the semi-finals where he finished fourth.
David took over the role of Guy in the West End production of Once in 2014, having previously understudied the role. In August 2016, he succeeded Killian Donnelly as the second Charlie Price in the West End production of Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre, the home of Waitress. He is the frontman of pop/rock band Reemer, and has supported artists such as The Feeling, Scouting for Girls and McFly. David released his first solo EP, “Silver Linings,” in April 2018.
Having not been able to return to Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre, due to the show closing early in the first COVID-19 lockdown, both David and Lucie Jones took part in a reunion concert live at the Phoenix Arts Club, which was live-streamed online on Sunday 23 August 2020.
In November 2021, he released a follow-up EP, entitled “PLAY” and performed his solo concert, TWO, at The Other Palace in May 2022. He reprised the role of Dr. Pomatter in the Waitress UK and Ireland tour, taking over from Matt Willis.
In October 2022, David starred as Henry in the world premiere of The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical, at the Storyhouse in Chester, which has music from Joss Stone and Dave Stewart. He will also lead the production for its West End premiere in late 2023.
