Julia Rothman

Julia Rothman is an illustrator, responsible for most of the drawings used on official Waitress the Musical merchandise.

Julia works from her studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and teaches Surface Design at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her illustrations have been used in a wide variety of situations, from books to editorial to advertising to toys, wallpaper, umbrellas, towels, mugs and more. Some of her clients include Chronicle Books, Target, Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Urban Outfitters, The Metropolitan Transit Authority, The Land of Nod, Design*Sponge and Victoria’s Secret.

Julia studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2002.

Julia co-founded Women Who Draw, an open directory of female professional illustrators, artists and cartoonists, with fellow illustrator Wendy MacNaughton. The group was created in an effort to increase the visibility of female illustrators, emphasising female illustrators of colour, LBTQ+, and other minority groups.

Julia’s work has been showcased around the world, including for Mont Blanc and Victoria’s Secret.
