Mamoru Miyano
Mamoru originated the role of Dr. Pomatter in Waitress the Musical in Japan. He is an established actor, voice actor for anime and video games, singer and narrator.
Mamoru joined the Himawari Theatre Group at 7, but didn’t take his first acting job until 1992 in Tokusou Exceedraft, where he appeared in a flashback as a child in a yakuza member’s past. In 2001, he made his voice acting debut in live action teen drama “Caitlin’s Way.”
In May 2007, he debuted as a singer with the single ‘Kuon’. The single debuted at #47 on the Oricon charts and was used as the ending theme song for anime series “Koutetsu Sangokushi.” In March 2009, his debut album “Break” was released, reaching #20 on the Oricon charts, followed in 2010 by his second album, “Wonder,” and his third album, “Fantasista” reaching #4 in 2012. In 2015, he became the first male voice actor with #1 single on Oricon Daily Chart. To date, he has released six albums, with “Passage” reaching #6 in 2013, “Frontier” reaching #3 in 2015, and “The Love” reaching #6 in 2017.
In 2008, at the second Seiyuu Awards, he won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his roles in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Koutetsu Sangokushi respectively. He has won other awards for his musicalc career including Best CD Album at the Japan Anican Awards 2013, Best Sound/Performance at the 2019 Tokyo Anima Awards and Influence Award at the 2020 Seiyu Awards.
His voice work has seen him appear in over 100 video games and anime series, as well as being the Japanese voice actor for the narrator in “The Grinch,” Eddie and Ray in “Sing,” Percy in the Harry Potter film series, and Tyler in “ET” on DVD.
On appearing in Waitress, Mamoru said: “I’m really happy to have the challenge a wonderful musical again. I am very happy to be able to co-star with Mitsuki Takahata and other wonderful performers. I’d say that the role is appropriate for my age, and I feel I’ve grown-up. I’m looking forward to it!”
