Marisha Wallace

Marisha Wallace originated the role of Becky in Waitress the Musical at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End.

The show was her second West End starring performance, having been an understudy Effie in Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre, just across the road from the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand. Whilst in the US, Marisha starred in the First National Tour of the Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon as well as being part of the original cast of Disney’s Aladdin, originating the role of the Fortune Teller.

Marisha’s voice can be heard in Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of “Aladdin,” where she has the line, “still I think he’s rather tasty.”

Marisha is a recording artist, and has released an album entitled “Soul Holiday.”

She left the show on 11 October 2019, and went onto support fellow Waitress alumni, Todrick Hall on his European tour, in support of her single, ‘Fight Like A Woman (Slay)’.

Marisha returned to the show on 6 January 2020, where she starred as Becky alongside Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel, leaving the show for the final time on 7 March 2020. She is due to star in Hairspray at the London Coloseum; the run was moved to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In April 2020, having battled and recovered from COVID-19, Marisha recorded a cover of the song ‘Tomorrow’, featured in the musical Annie. The song went viral, eventually reaching #2 in the UK download charts, with Michael Ball playing it regularly on his BBC Radio 2 show. Cast members from RuPaul’s Drag Race lip-synched to the track for the video, with proceeds from streams/sales of the song going to BroadwayCares and MADTrust to benefit actors and performers impacted by COVID-19 in the UK and USA.

Decca Records signed Marisha in September 2020, with her full debut album, entitled “Tomorrow,” being released in November 2020. It reached #69 on the Official UK Top 75 Albums Chart.

In 2022, Marisha starred as Ado Annie in the Broadway transfer of the Bard SummerScape production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! the Musical at the Young Vic. She followed this by starring in the immersive production of Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre in 2023.
