Ushma Olava
Ushma originated the role of Becky in Waitress the Musical in Lahti, Finland.
Ushma is well-known in Finland for being one third of the girl group, Gimmel, who were formed through the first season of the “Popstars” TV show in Spring 2002. Gimmel were named after the third letter in the Hebrew alphabet, representing that there were three members. Their debut single, ‘Etsit Muijaa Seuraavaa’ (‘Looking For The Next One’) reached #1 in October 2002, with their album, ‘Lentoon’ following suit. It became the best selling album of 2002 in Finland, with over 85,000 copies sold. The band broke up in October 2004, after releasing a second album in 2003.
After Gimmel disbanded, Ushma studied Theatre Arts at the University of the Arts Theatre Academy in Helsinki, graduating in 2009. She has performed in the Finnish translation of the British TV show, “The Office,” as well as the critically acclaimed, “Aikuiset” (“Adults”) on Yle TV2.
