Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, is one of Australia’s largest cities and home to the Sydney Lyric Theatre, where Waitress the Musical is due to open in 2020. The theatre opened in September 1997 and is used as a concert venue, as well as for musicals and plays, with 2010 seats.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall and Minister for the Arts, Don Harwin, said Waitress has been secured exclusively for Sydney by the NSW Government. “Waitress, which premiered in the USA and made its Broadway debut in 2016, has played to packed theatres, and we are delighted to have secured the Australian rights for this production.”
